Hey guys, my system is a Dell Inspiron 3874 i54460 @3.2G 8GB ram...
I have chosen to upgrade my GPU as its crap - Nvidia GeForce GTX 705 lol
I am going to be buying a Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2gb, I have checked and it should fit in my case fine.
My PSU is only 300w as I just cleaned the inside of my pc and it said it on the psu label. can I change the psu to a Corsair CXM 430w and that should be more than enough to support it yeah???

On the side of the PSU there should be a label with how many amps are output by each rail (12v, 5v, 3.3v etc). How many amps on the 12v rail? The 750ti is a 60w card if I remember correctly so would be a minimal increase in amps. That should be fine on your existing PSU, assuming you have the necessary PCI power cables for it (6 pin I think). If not, you can buy molex to PCI-E converters that will do the job.

hey guys

Hi I ordered the Asus Nvidia GeForce gtx 750 ti 2gb along with the cxm430
do I need to order anything els or can I just plug and play when it arrives and does that psu fit my inspiron 3847 case

hey peeps I got the psu and installed it today, seems to be working fine, the graphics card hasn't come yet but it would it be supported by the psu

No need for more than 8gb of RAM for gaming. You have an H81 motherboard so overclocking a 'K' series i5 would be out of the question.

I think you've gone as far as you can without changing motherboard, CPU and probably case (as I think your Dell one wouldn't happily take a decent cooler for overclocking)

ok that's good info dude thanks a lot just trying to make sure what I o get is compatible and I'm not wasting money on unnecessary parts.
In regards to the question about my psu I understand it will work but here are the specs written on the original psu, was it a necessary upgrade or would it have supported the graphic card upgrade?

That is tight. What numpty designs a motherboard with SATA sockets at the end of the PCI-E socket? D'oh...

From the pics it looks tight but ok, although if you wanted to tidy it up a bit you could buy some of these which might remove any stress to the cable from the GPU. It'll work fine with the 3G ports on your board despite it being a 6G cable

:) thanks for checking my pc out
it was super tight with the second hdd so I removed it as it made my pc tower vibrate loud because the sata cable is straight I need either a left hand or right hand style cable like the one on my main hdd.

When I put the side of the case back on it bent the sata cable down a tiny bit that's where the vibrations came from.

The red cable next to the gpu is fine its not bent or touching the gup even though it looks like it is as the cable twists around in the pic.
