About to purchase an Asus 480 - your experience with them?

I have a feeling they may handle the RMA for the first year then after that it's up to me! Problem is, my other GPUs that have died in the past have done after around 18 months.

1979 sale of goods. The retailer must deal with any problems you face - not the manufacterer.

Zotac, KFA2 and Palit 480's are available for a similar price in some places. Have a look

Yup, the sales of goods contract is between you [buyer] and the retailer [seller]. The retailer in turn has a contract between them and the supplier or manufacturer.

Excellent. It's likely i'll take the plunge then.

What would I do in this other situation I'm in though....

I had a faulty BFG 9800GX2 which I sent back to BFG and got a 280 in return I think. Now that is also faulty (badly refurbished I expect) but BFG have shut down/gone bust. Where do I stand with that?

As you got the card direct from BFG your screwed. Unlucky. If you got it from a retailer then you can try for maybe £45 off something

Thanks for the advice :)

I've taken the plunge and just bought a GTX480 ;) Only problem now is I won't want to wait until I get my new PC next week....i'll want to stick it in my 3 year old PC to give games a cheeky boost!

I'm going on the basis of the RMA length. The Zotac has 5yrs warranty aswell.

The only issue for me is that it's a Zotac, if they didn't offer 5 years they wouldn't sell any lol. My problem with Zotac is primarily that they are a renamed company, and that company is 'Pine'. Anyone who knows them will know what I mean lol

And the Asus/KFA2/Zotac/Palit are all virtually identical reference cards including cooler, so it really doesnt make much difference which one anyone picks.

One thing i really need to know from people who have bought the Asus one of these is whether it comes with a molex - 8 pin adapter as i have an old corsair 620hx which only came with two 6 pin pcie express connectors.

I take it it requires a 6 pin and an 8 pin?

Just bought an Asus one and it didn't come with an 8 pin adaptor. It only came with a twin molex to 6 pin adaptor.

Yes, it requires a 6 pin and an 8 pin connection. ;)
