Hi

As the title says, I'm about to RMA my Asus EN8800GT 512MB because of their new 2 slot cooler which has NO fan control, so the fan is at 100% all the time which is too noisy for my likes.

My choices are either get another 8800GT (not Asus), and put an S1 on it with a noctua fan, or would you think that an 8800GT will be silent at low fan speed, or will a 8800GTS be more silent at low fan speed, providing sufficent cooling at the same time in 2D mode, i dont mind increase fan noise during gameplay cus i got speakers on a decent volume.

Another point is that i only game at 1280*1024 so a GTS might be pointless.

Just want your opinion(s), on what would be the most silent solution, at the same time as not spending too much money (£180 ish, the cheaper the better though)

Well, if you would consider putting an S1 on the new GT you receive, why not jsut put one on the GT you have? Saves the hassle of returning it...

GTS is pointless at that res, only worth it at higher, you could try RMAing it for a LeadTek, as they use the bigger single slot fan now, and are also quiet, just liek the opriginal signle slot small fan, my GT has the original small fan and is very quiet. :)

Its the only one i know of thats confirmed to be the bigger, the Zotac's may have the bigger to, as im sure someones posted saying theirs had the bigger fan on it, and i think XFX may do as well, but id go for the LeadTek as its confirmed in the description that its the bigger fan, so you definately know with that. :)
