hi,

im going to sell my iphone to a friend, but want to backup all my numbers and text. i then want to delete all the content. the iphone has been jailbroken and i think its firmware 1.1.4. before i sell it i also want to upgrade the firmware to the latest one that can be jailbroken.

can anyone give me steps on how to do this?

thanks

Numbers and texts will be backed up via iTunes, Contacts should available via Address Book or Outlook (Depends on your OS).

If your restore the iPhone in iTunes it will wipe the contents of the phone and load the latest firmware version (currently 2.2.1 and not able to be jailbroken). 2.2 can be jailbroken and can be sourced via a Google search. You'll have to manually shift click in Windows or Alt/Option on a Mac to update the phone.

dunno yet

can you guide me on how to backup the numbers, contact and text through itunes?

thanks

Contacts sync to Address Book each time, photos go into iPhoto, text messages are backed up but you can only restore them to anther (or the same) iPhone.

I don't know (or care enough to know :p :D ) what happens when you sync with a Windows machine but something similar will happen. If you look at the tabs for your iPhone when it's connected it will tell you where stuff goes.

I personally think you're mad for ditching the iPhone but have fun!
