My wife finally passed her driving test on her 3rd attempt with 5 minors (Russian habits die hard) with her Toyota Yaris as recommended to us on here .
Now she wants a RAV-4 uh-oh. Is it a good car for a new driver?

Congratz to her :) A good car for a new driver is a reliable one that they are comfortable driving - test drive one, see how she feels.

Ha good work. Did she become more patient ?

She was shocked to pass, she thought she made a serious at the start of the test with a bus and done rest of test in usual Russian aggressive manner and passed! Last time she failed for just indicators not self canceling and noticing seconds too late.

Russian wife? This needs pics :p :p

Congrats to her!

I posted one before, there for OCUK detectives to find.

I've got a Rav4, as a shopping car / towing car (only 350KG to tow but its enough) and the thing is woeful on fuel and its more to tax than my GTS.

They are pleasent enough to drive though, do not expect any thrills. :)

Congrats! But I doubt a new driver that took 3 attempts to pass her test should be getting a 4x4 for her first car :p there's enough dangerous women on the roads in them things as it is :D
Get something small and easy to park like a newish fiesta.

She's probably a decent driver but it takes a while to get used to our tediously hesitant drivers who faff about too much.

I'd let her appreciate the car she passed in for the next few years. I got my wife a Micra as her first car and although she hated it when I first got it for her by time it came to selling it on she just wanted me to keep on repairing it. She now has a 2010 Yaris and she still compares it to her beloved G reg Micra.

Haha, we all feel that way about our first cars though don't we?

I know full well that my first car was terrible but still miss it, guess I just link to a time when driving felt new and exciting. :D
