Hey all I have just replaced the GPU cooler on my old 6800gt with a new arctic cooling accelero x1 but am having problems powering it. I should explain this computers a few years old now and I cant find anywhere for the small 4 pin (female) power plug on the gpu cooler to fit into. The mobos a gigabyte 7n400 and the power cable on the gpu cooler goes first to this 4 pin plug and then we loose half the wires and it goes to a 2pin which i can plug into the GPU itself.

I presume this doesnt give it enough power on its own though since all i get when i try to power up is meeeep. So my basic question is have i done something stupid which can be easily solved or do i need to get some kind of power adaptor? and if so what. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to connect the 4-pin to 2-pin adapter in a different way? Maybe the wires are wrongly connected?
You can also try to connect the 2-pin plug to a 3-pin header for a normal fan. I know it's a tight fit but it can be done, at least this way you will know if there is something wrong with the cooler itself or with the GFX card.
