I bought this cooler for my Pentium D 930 which came preapplied with mx-1 thermal paste. It also came with an extra tube called "silicone paste".

50% silicone
30% metal oxide, 20% carbon

Is this the same as the mx-1 paste or just generic?

However, now I am upgrading to a C2D E6600 and I was wondering if I should use this paste or buy AS5?

I always use MX-1 now - it is at least as good as AS5 IMO.

I've never heard of this extra tube of silicon paste and didn't get one with my ACF7. Is there anything mentioned on the box or instructions? Unless it says MX-1 I wouldn't touch it.

cheers

I guess the seller who sold the AC7 to me just gave me an extra tube of generic arctic silicone paste.

Anyway, I will buy the AS5 paste. Is this the best in the world?
