Looks like my CC needs a regas as noticed today it wasn't keeping the cabin cool.

Am in NW London, HA7, where's the best place to get this done? Seem to remember a KwikFit thread on this so are they still the best? (cheapest :))

Yea let the kwik twit nutters have a go, try to distract him so he dosent take a before reading, then claim its no better for a freebie, it absolutely makes my day when they dont charge me :)

I had my car regased by kwik fit, went well and nice cold air con, I can't see how the monkeys could get it wrong, the machine does everything. I think it's £30 also.

I can confirm this works! :o:D

I got mine re-gassed, and then complained the fan stopped working - they charged me nothing.

When I got home, I plugged the FSU (Final Stage Unit Resistor or "Hedgehog") back in - so the fans run again - nice one Krap fit. ;)

Suspended again? :(

Checking their website it looks like they currently charge 50 notes, might pop in tomorrow at the place near my work and see what they can do.

Decided to give Kwak-Twits a miss and found a company called Mirage Air near Brent Cross. John the owner specialises in AC and certainly knows his stuff.

Checked the system which was bone dry, then leak tested the system, then added some oil/dye and finally topped it up.

Need a really hot day to test it out fully I suppose but checking the compressor and view bubble there is certainly coolant running past the bubble which there wasn't before and the air is cooler then it used to be.

The owner is such a nice guy I've got to recommend him. :)

Not sure I could be bothered conning them out of £30 TBH. Even if I could it isn't right.

If they do the job well and you come out with a fully working air con system again then £30 is nothing.

Hmm, sadly for me R12 was banned in the 90's, but luckily for me I happen to own a commercial AC company so finding the gas and getting it into the car shouldn't be too difficult (I am kidding, I just put R409a in instead)

I had mine done by a backstreet garage and they didn't put enough gas in.Took it to a Volvo specialist and they sorted it out. Cost £75.

It's not worth cheaping out, if it goes wrong the best case scenario is you'll have to pay the same again, at worst you'll have a load of hassle putting it right. I don't know if volvos are a bit funny about the gas and quantity thereof, but i ended up having mine gassed, oiled, a shot of system restore and it's been fine since. The volvo indy spent nearly two days trying to find a non-existant leak.

The guy I went to is an air con specialist, that's what he does day in, day out.

He also retro-fits AC to cars, he had 2 mercedes SLs in, 1 was being restored and he was fitting AC to it, the other had a leaking AC pipe behind the dash so was in for repairs.

To be honest if I have any problems I'll be straight back, he also told me to come back in 6 months and he'd check the system over for free.
