Try as I might I can't get ac3 or dts out of the co-ax digital output on this motherboard when playing movie files. I'm using imedian HD media player which is excellent, but the result is the same with all the common media players I've tried. I'm running Vista 64 home premium which I'm sure is probably something to do with it. I've installed the latest drivers from Asus as well as directly from Realtek.
I'm playing mpeg's and wmv's which I know are in 5.1 as they play fine through my xbox 360. Also when testing ac3 and dts output via the sound properties dialogue box it works fine.
Obviously the easy fix would be to buy a soundcard but I've spent a lot lately and don't want to do this if I can sort it with the onboard sound.
Any help appreciated.
