I have a movie file in which the audio is in FLAC format. My macbook is linked to my HDTV and 5.1 surround sound system via digital signal.
I use VLC to play this movie file and its plays the video fine and the sound does play, however due to the amp not being able to decode FLAC I think sound was reduced to stereo. Usually the amp would show Dolby D or DTS if the input it received were either one of those, but however nothing showed which is an indication that the audio input is just stereo.
I have read that in windows you can use AC3filter to decode FLAC to either dolby digital or DTS to work with a 5.1 surround sound system. Is there anything like this for mac?
Any help would be appreciated.
Michael.
