I own an AVT150 and am a bit dissapointed with it so I went into Sound Control with about £600 to spend on a nice new amp

I tried
a Hot Rod Delluxe (they said they would order me the 2X12 Deville in)
a TSL 601
and an AC30 CC2

the Hot Rod Delluxe had a brilliant clean tone and a brilliant dirty tone but I wasn't sure on the high gain, not to say I didn't like it but still

I tried the TSL and just wasn't impressed after trying the Fender. So I'll probably not get this one.

I tried the Vox just just because I happened to spot it and liked both the clean and dirty a lot, but there wasn't a lot of gain, but I'm sure if I put a TS9 infront of it then it would have. I did really like it though.

So... the question is which amp would you go for and why. You can base it completely on your own experiences or use my opinions to help me decide!! :)

I'm going to go back down again to try them again before I buy

Also any other amp suggestions would be good.

Thanks in advance. :)

im after a new amp too...

im very interested in the hot rod deluxe/deville...

ive recently tried a tsl 602.....brilliant

ive also been told line6.. but im not so sure, ive read some bad reviews... but ive never tried.. so i cant be sure.

I'v got a hot rod deluxe which i'm very very hapy with. I used one of those £15 behringer distortion modelers to get some high gain goodness out of it, although after a bit of fiddling I got some very nice hard rock tones out of the amps dirty channel.

hahaha! I'm rhythm guitarist and singer. I love the amp. Before that one, I had the valvtronix, various line 6 amps and some solid state marshalls, but none of them really did anything for me. The hot rod deluxe though is very nice! Tried a lacey lc-30 as well, which was also good. I hear the Peavey Valve King series are meant to be great for hihg gain stuff, lot's of people giving the the thumbs up. My brothers getting himself one in a couple of weeks.

Another one in the Hot Rod Deluxe club here :)

I'm using either a Boss DS-1 or BD-2 in front of it (or both on our heaviest song :D). You can get an amazing tone with the HRD on the clean channel and the BD-2 about 3/4 the way up on distortion.

Another option for that money would be a Deluxe and a 2x12 cabinet (jcm 900 1936?)

Would you say its worth paying the extra for the Deville?

Also has anyone had any experience with a Vox AC30 CC2? :)

I would say a Deluxe and a 2X12 would be better. That way you have the practicality of the Deluxe when you need it, but can use the extension to get more out the bottom when you are doing bigger gigs. I said it in another thread, I've never gone over 4 on the Deluxe playing live, it goes above the drummer after about 2 so if we're mic'd up, so I don't think you'd ever need the extra 20 watts. The extra speaker in the DeVill will add more depth to your sound, but probably not as much as a deluxe through a 2X12
