Just installed one of these on my X1800XT and im dissapointed with it to be honest.

Boots up loud then slows down as windows loads. It seems louder than the stock cooler and emits a rather high pitched wine.

Do I need to set a fan speed manually for this thing to be quiet?

Seems a waste of money to me

Argh it seems to be the chipset fan on my A8N-E playing up, thats what the loud noise is for.

I really cant be bothered to take out my motherboard to fit a new chipset cooler at the moment.

What temps are safe for the X1800XT? Its currently sat at 59c in windows. Im just hoping the paste needs time to settle in.

its is a little over average but thats a fine idle temp

Was suprised to the Accelero causing the noise, was going to say check your NB cooler, but you've already sorted it

59 is fine, used to get that on my old rig, idles at 56 now.

Idles at 42c now Just turned up the fan speed to 100% in rivatuner. Didn't notice any difference in noise.
