I've posted this in the GPU area - but it might have been wiser to post it here... :)

I purchased Arctic cooler xtreme 8800 for my 8800GTX from Overclockers.co.uk last week. Having just attempted to fit it, I have found that the pad supplied for the NVIO chip is thinner than the pads for the memory (which it is supposed to be as its raised more than the memory). However, it is TOO slim and does NOT touch the heatsink - there is a gap.

I read a review of the cooler a few weeks ago on MADSHRIPS and the 'review sample' had this issue but it was promised by Arctic cooling that by the time it hits the shops that would be rectified.

The reviewer contacted Arctic cooling who said they knew of the 'issue' and sent him new pads. However, now the pre-applied thermal paste is ruined where Ive tried to install it!

Has anyone else found this? Im afraid to use it whilst its like that! What to do now?

I'd ask for Arctic Cooling to send you the replacement pads you mention and also get some thermal paste to replace the stock MX-2.

Something like Ceramique or more MX-2 would be perfect.

MX-2 is the paste that comes on the coolers apparently. Ive been to the Arctic cooling website and all you can do there is submit a form for any issues. Ive done that but heard nothing yet
There's no number to call or anything. So theres no quick and easy way to contact them. Its as frustrating as hell because now I cant use my Gaming pc at all because a stupid pad is a few milimeters too thin. :(
