I was chatting to a mate last night who's from Portsmouth, found out that neither of us had ever dated a girl with the same accent as ourselves. My current girlfriend is from Manchester and the previous two were from Kent and Fife.

Just wondering if the pair of us are wierd or if people tend to prefer people from further away, perhaps something to do with getting new genes and not being a bit of a redneck? :p

Come to think of it my brothers the same..

My accent pwns.

Law's got that posh-east-midlands accent you get from growing up in a village outside notts.

Most have had pretty similar accents to me, one was a tiiiny bit posher.

My current girlfriend is German though so that's a bit of a change :D

I like it, makes my pants go funny

YOU VILL DO MEH MEISTER ENGLANDERMAN.

There's nothing more attractive than a girl with my own south Dublin accent.
Second to that would be the Spanish accent. That little lisp drives me nuts! It's the tongue sticking out all the time.. it's so suggestive :o

Sure, if you're a snake.

English girls seem to like my accent and I like theirs (usually) so guess it was bound to happen :)

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that might not "go for" but ends up with people from different areas, perhaps they're just more interesting and easier to listen to!

I dont have an accent, although i've had a couple of the inbreds round here asking if I am an American.

WTF? its called "speakin' pwoppa".

the word Posh should not be used in the same sentence when refering to the East Midlands area.

Besides you want a decent Stokie accent like what I have.:D

back to topic, my GF is from Kent(Ramsgate) and tbh I can't detect a regional accent in her voice but that could just be the perminant ear plugs I use having been together 4 years.

Eh up, Penski hope she don't go getting all mardy on ya. One of my Ex's was from the east midlands took me ages to understand all that funny stuff they say!
I have to say that I really like to hear a girl with an interesting accent.

To me you would have an Accent :)

Every person in the world has an accent

Both me and my partner have the same accent as we grew up round here. Hers is more authentic though as mine has been a bit more "english-ified" after living in France with people with southern accents.

My first and second GF's both were from Kent so we had the same accents. I haven't really had a GF here in Uni, though I've not really "slept" with anybody from Kent either. There just aren't that many lasses (that I know of) who are from that part of the country. Let's just say most of them have other thick accents.
