Here's a question for everyone! What is the maximum age difference between two people in a relationship that people would deem as acceptable?
Reason I ask is that I've recently started seeing someone and her ex is always talking to her via text, etc. It didn't bother me until I found out how old he is! She is 21, I'm a few years older and he is 48! Old enough to be my dad is the first thought that came across my mind.
When she told me I couldnt help but feel a little weirded out. Her parents broke up when she was young and he got together with her when she was 17. They were together a couple of years and two years later he still contacts her all the time. He is back with his wife now after cheating for 2 years with her during the relationship and to be honest I was a little shocked when I found all this out! In some ways I wish she hadn't told me and I could have happily lived just assuming it was a normal ex.
Some of my mates say it sounds fine, others say WTF smash and run and to be honest I'm probably in the smash and run category. To me the guy sounds as if he took advantage of a 17 year old without a dad and still has some sort of hold on her despite being back with his wife.
If I was nearly 50 and managed to get an 18 year old it would be high fives all round, but I'm not and at the moment it just seems weird to me! What do OCUK think?
I'm not looking for relationship advice as I can handle that, but would other people feel a bit weird about it?
