Hi everyone, I'm new here and a complete noob to PC gaming builds. Ive spent the last couple of weeks educating myself to the point that I've created the build below. I'm wanting to game 1440p with the ability to upgrade in the future.

Any advice on it certain parts are overkill or overpriced etc would be welcomed.

Also, in terms of building, I want to acquire my parts over 3-4 months but I'm concerned that I won't find out if the parts have faults until everything is up and running, at which point I can't return the items. Any advice on this would also be welcomed.

Case: NZXT H6 airflow- 119

Additional fans: Arctic P12 PWM PST RGB 0db Black Fan Triple Pack - 120mm- £35

Motherboard: MSI MPG B650 Edge WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard- £229

CPU: 7800X3D - 379

GPU:

Sapphire PURE RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card - WHITE - 11330-03-20G- £550

CPU cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer ii 360 101.95

Thermal Paste: 5

Operating system: Windows 11

PSU: Lian Li SP850W SFX Modular 80 Plus Gold Power Supply - White- £145

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 RAM 5600MHz C36 Memory Kit - White - CMH32GX5M2B5600C36WK- £120

Memory: Corsair Force MP600 2TB Gen 4 NVMe M.2 SSD - CSSD-F2000GBMP600R2- £120

Thanks all!

You're paying more than you "need" because of the white tax, but other than that, it looks fine.

Alternative without the tax:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,484.84 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Cooler: this (under £50).

There's a few issues there.
  1. Most retailers have some kind of policy where you get a fast, brand new replacement or can request a refund within a certain timeframe, but after that they send it to the manufacturer.
  2. Most retailers are very unhappy if you don't quickly (i.e. within the first few days) report any physical damage, since if they need to claim through the courier it is much more difficult. They're also less likely to believe you didn't do it yourself.
  3. Pricing and availability changes a lot, so you might have issues getting or spending what you originally planned.

Thank you both. You've put my mind at rest. Interesting about the increased cost for white products. Probably worth the hit but then I could get them in black and spend the excess on a new screen. Decisions.

The NZXT H6 airflow takes full size PSU , take a look at the cooler Master V850 Gold-V2 White Edition.

Corsair rm 750w white.

white CPU cooler.

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 White

its fine but that white GPU is a lower tier 7800 xt performance wise. Pity there was not a white Nitro+
It's lower tier? Crikey, incase choosing which GPU isn't enough, now I have to figure out tiers to each on . Would you say it's worth the price?

I'll take a look at those components Mickey, would you say they're better than what I currently have selected?

The CPU cooler is white but a top tier air cooler for £40 and more than enough for a 7800x3d.

White PSU are same quality really but slightly cheaper.

If your doing a white build then there are white aio coolers like Lian li Galahad that will suit your theme but there not cheap.

Not quite correct from what I can see. The pure is the exact same spec as the Nitro + just in white and cheaper than the nitro +.

Nitro + £570

11330-01-20G, Core Clock: 2124MHz, Boost Clock: 2430MHz, Memory: 16384MB 19400MHz GDDR6, Stream Processors: 3840, DirectX 12 Support, Vulkan Support, RDNA, Freesync 2 HDR support, 3yr Warranty

Pure £540

11330-03-20G, Core Clock: 2124MHz, Boost Clock: 2430MHz, Memory: 16384MB 19400MHz GDDR6, Stream Processors: 3840, DirectX 12 Support, Vulkan Support, RDNA, Freesync 2 HDR support, 3yr Warranty

The coolers even look the same.

I think those are the basic 7800 XT clock speeds before factory overclock.
The factory overclocks i believe look like this unless i confused.

Nitro +
Base Clock1295 MHz 1624 MHz (+25%)
Game Clock2124 MHz 2254 MHz (+6%)
Boost Clock2430 MHz 2565 MHz (+6%)

Pure
Base Clock1295 MHz (+0%)
Game Clock 2124 MHz 2169 MHz (+2%)
Boost Clock2430 MHz 2475 MHz (+2%)

Thanks for all your help guys. I've actually decided to go with the build @Tetras suggested and brought in the Arctic cooler I originally had in place.
Ive kept the AIO strictly for aesthetics over the standard CPU cooler.

I've got it in my basket on OC and was expecting more discount considering we are in BF territory. Do we know of any vouchers that over lockers have released to knock off X percentage etc?

Cheers and hope you're all having a great Thursday.

Also, to add to this, the case is only on pre order unfortunately so I'll have to pick a different case than what Tetras suggested. Any suggestions welcomed

Do you have a budget in mind? Did you go all-black for the build?

These are all cases I'd consider (the fan pack is for the P400, the other two don't need more fans):

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £286.91 (includes delivery: £19.99)

Hiya,
Yes I've gone all black in the end. All substance and saved on abit of the style. I love the Lian Li case youve linked so I've picked that one. . Thank you .

Hi guys, just 1 last thing.

With the XT currently coming in at around 500-540 and the X3D being around 350, is this the best combination for the price? Or, would you sacrifice the CPU to increase the GPU.

Again, I'm looking for 1440p and will be playing survival crafter's , AAA etc.

In gerneral at 1440p the gpu will make more of a difference than the cpu depending upon the game played.

I would get a lower cpu to keep a better gpu.

Another Edit

The 7800XT pulse is only £475 atm :)

It is one of those "it depends" things.

There's an argument that a 7600 and 7900 XT (if you can get them for that price, e.g. 200, 700) would get you more fps in some games @ 1440p.

If it was me, then I'd ask the question: which are you going to upgrade next? If the answer is: a 9800X3D, then I'd go for the 7900 XT. If the answer is: a 8800 XT, then get the X3D.

Morning!
I think with that rationale, I'd get the improved graphics card as my first upgrade as the X3D is the consensus 'best' gaming CPU.

Thanks
