My 980ti died on me and is getting replaced under warranty with Zotac as it was an extended 5 year warranty with it.

They have offered me a 1070 instead as they have no 980ti in stock

GTX 1070 Amp Extreme (ZT-P10700B-10P) to be precise

Does that seem like an acceptable substitute bearing in mind I paid £500 for the 980ti 4.5 years ago when it was the top gaming card you could buy?

yeah being a triple fan card with a nice overclock using afterburner will be faster than you're 980ti but not by much so yeah you're getting basically a straight replacement performance wise which should use less power at least so save a couple of quid in electric :P

As above it's a pretty decent swap, same performance but using less electric.

You could always see if they will give you a 1070ti/1080? that would be a decent upgrade.

It is a fair replacement. And is a great cooler. It cost me £390 for that exact card on release on a misprice and most 1070s were £400+. Maybe try push luck and try to get a 1070 ti?

its fair unless you can demonstrate a particular example where you 980Ti was performing better, tbh you've done well to get a warranty replacement after 4.5yrs shows Zotac in a good light tbh most people are forced to buy a GPU replacement... imagine if that was a 2080Ti going belly up

I asked for a 1070ti but they have none in stock...so I asked for a 1080...cheeky i know but cant hurt to ask.

I also asked how much they would want me to pay to upgrade it to a 1080ti...again can hurt to ask.

Very glad I went with Zotac as the rest were all 2-year warranty back then

RMA response has been very quick...posted it to them Wednesday...it arrived Thursday..tested and failed that afternoon by 4pm and notified they would be in touch regarding replacement

Now Monday and getting offered replacement.

Edit : No option to pay extra to get an upgrade at present but as you all say the 1070 is a fair replacement and can't complain after 4.5 years.

So glad i filled in the registration now to get the extra 3 years

RMA has been a joy to do so to speak...very quick responses with all emails and very understanding regarding the fault.

Where was the faulty card sent back to, somewhere in the UK?

Good to hear Zotac are on the ball with this sort of thing, they tend to be more reasonably priced while offering a better warranty (five years) than most.

You also get more vram which is always nice. You will be able to use higher quality textures in modern games...

New card arrived 2 days ago...very happy indeed :)

Its the same size as a sapphire vega and runs warzone so much smoother at same setting as the vega.

Temps are amazing :)

Zotac 5 year warranty sounds great.

I will keep an eye out for them next time I buy. Thanks for sharing.

Funny enough my zotac 980ti died on the 10/4/20 so just 10 days after yours but unfortunately for me I didn't have the extended warranty lol guess that'll teach me

Yeah excellent service, similar experience with MSI on a 1080ti I had second hand on Facebook, they repaired without a warranty (did it from manufacturing date instead, was amazing) they were based in Czech from memory tho and took 6 weeks.
