Access 3G connection

Hi,

I have a freeview box connected to a HUAWEI E5330 3G Mifi adaptor, is it possible to access the drive via FTP from my home connection?

3G Connection is with EE.

I have both the external ip address & internal ip address from the MIFI adaptor but keep getting page not found or error when trying to connect.

That really depends on the model of the freeview box if it even allows FTP. I'm also assuming you're adding the port number at the end of the address, which by default for FTP is 21.

Another issue is depending on your network your external IP may actually be shared with other people so it's not unique to you.

Does the freeview box not have wifi/ethernet?

Is the WAN IP on the MiFi a real public routable address? They aren't usually.

Lots of issues here:

1. Do you have other machines connected to your mifi adapter and from those can you FTP to the freeview box? If not, make sure it is working internally before trying to diagnose any external access
2. As mentioned, most IP addresses assigned by mobile providers as your 'external' IP are actually NATed by the mobile provider meaning you can't route to your mobile device from outside
3. Even if it were routable then you'd need your mifi device to port forward FTP to the freeview box.

Mobile networks use CG-NAT, you can't do what you want.
