Access hard drive help please

Guys i am having what seems like major problems, it seems as though i have a virus, please see My other thread if need be.

Basically it looks like i am going to have to perform an image restore, but before i do i need to access the "my documents and settings" folder to retrieve some info, is there a way i can do this as i cannot keep "explorer.exe open long enough to access it directly.

Running XP pro sp2.

Can you take the hard drive out and put it in another computer and copy the data like that?

hi guys thanks for replying.

Have managed to use Acronis to get all the info i need off the disks, will be doing a restore later on then can transfer all i need back via Acronis.

you could use something like the file manager from 7zip to copy the files, it's not linked to explorer
