Hey all

Basically I read a thread earlier today about building your own NAS instead of buying one, and I really want to go down that route when it comes to it. Now I have one question....will there be anyway to access the content on my NAS (movies/tv/music etc) from my laptop/phone IF my laptop/phone is not in range of the router (eg...on the bus, or over a friends house)?

Thanks

Yes. Of course :) TV/Movies will be pretty slow though if it's just a regular home connection. Music and photos you could get away with.

There's different ways of doing it though depending on what sort of software it's run on.

I use IIS to get external web access to my Windows based server.

I haven't decided what OS to run on it yet :( I only know of FreeNAS or Windows Server
