We're redoing our downstairs toilet (tiny thing under the stairs) and are replacing a back to the wall toilet like for like. The toilet backs on to the tallest wall (if you imagine the ceiling sloping with the stairs). Above the concealed cistern is a boiler so standard amounts of pipework + the actual unit + flue running upwards.
The previous owner clad the bathroom and on this wall, has attached the cladding with magnets for access. I despise cladding so I'm ripping it all out, battening and plasterboarding but I'm not sure how to finish off what is essentially a full wall of boxing in that must be accessible for maintenance.
I had thought about plastering 3-4in in to the wall and then just having ply+boards with some form of removable fixing but thought this would look awful. The other half is also toying with the idea of tiling, at least to waist height so contending with that too.
The plasterer did come up with an idea of a pull down door below the boiler for access to pipe work but then access to the toilet still needs to be available.
Thoughts?
