A certain internet auction site has been blocked on the PCs at work.

Is there any way around this? I'm sure there used to be tunnel websites, which would allow "anonymous" access to websites?

Well there might be many things responsible for it. I think this issue is related to hosting company. Also it might be related to bandwidth issue or technical thing.

If you are that desperate to get to the site then browse to it on your mobile phone if it has a compatible browser installed

You are at work... Browsing for your own pleasure needs to be done on your own time. Not in work hours.

I'd take the hint that you cannot access the site. There are a number of ways to monitor and block web traffic even if its encrypted, and is it really worth your job to browse this site from work?

Surprised nobody has mentioned the biggest reason not to use a proxy:

You have no way of knowing that it doesn’t log the information you send through it, you’re basically handing an unscrupulous proxy runner your account details in plaintext.

When I was at school we used to go to the Canadian site and come back around to the UK one somehow. :o

Not sure if that'll work for you, but in any case, work is for work.

Yeah, I use one at college, but I sure as hell don't login to any sites. Just in case. ;)
