Accessing Fedora Image from Dell server

Morning all,

I've got a Dell PowerEdge 750 rack mountable server that I was given from an old employer, that i've been dying to get setup in the house so I can create a more centralised network store in.

The problem is, the unit doesn't have CD drive, and I cannot for the life of me get hold of an external USB CD drive.

Does anyone know if it's possible for the server to access an image based on my XP Pro based machine somehow? To clarify, the server currently has nothing on it whatsoever.

Any advice and/or linkage appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave

should be able to boot from a Flash disk. OR you could pull the HDD and ghost it then slap it back in your XP rig.

I assume it has IDE/ sata support in the rig?

If the disks are IDE (or SATA) then you could use a PC to start the o/s install process and then pop it back in the server after the MBR has been installed - I have done this with Windows systems, once the initial format and copying of files has completed and the system reboots you can then move the drive before any drivers are installed.

That or you can use imaging software like Skilldibop has suggested.

Dan.

You could use a bootable floppy with network support to do a remote install via ftp. If you want to be flash you could even send the floppy image over the network using PXE.
