Evening all

Just looking for some advice, im off to Dubai soon and i was wondering what would be the best way to be able to get into my home network while im out there? I just need access to a few files and would also be great if i could somehow be able to view iplayer etc while im out there.

What would be the best route to go down to achieve this? I have a billion 7800n router just to point out

Thanks guys

Thanks mate, i use teamviewer at the mo but wasnt sure if it would actually work while abroad but i guess it must do hey :) Can you actually transfer files through Team viewer tho? Never actually tried it myself.

Yes. It's remote access, VPN & file transfer in one.

Thanks for clearing that up KIA, i must admit to get that all in one app for free is pretty amazing.

Any ideas on the best way to protect myself online while im out there? The apartment we stay in only has unprotected wifi so dont really like the idea of using it, i had thought maybe a vpn would be a good idea what do you think? I had even thought of maybe creating a virtual machine on my laptop and accessing the web through that i guess that would maybe help protect my laptop a little more

I say VPN and use thick applications on your remote client.

Does the 7800N have a PPTP Server? I can see documentation on it but am unaware how fully featured it is.

Lot's of flexibility and security.

Hi Sin, I think the 7800n only supports PPTP pass through but im not 100%. Im still getting my head around VPN's etc
