accessing itunes shares from other media apps

is it possible to access an itunes shared library from an alternative media app?

i had a look at winamp as i know it has ipod support but cannot see any way of getting to itunes.

is there any app out there that can do this?

much better off just having flac/mp3/ogg files in a shared directory, this is why itunes is a farse imo

not looking for an itunes bashing thread, i like itunes it just been "banned" at work.

if its not possible i'll just take the risk.

lol why dont you turn off the itunes conversion to the m4a or whatever it uses, so it keeps files in mp3, so you can do what you want?
