I've got my laptop and PC within the same homegroup, and I've shared all the harddrives on my PC, but when I try access either the downloads folder or the desktop of my pc, from my laptop, I get permission restrictions despite I set it to 'anyone' can read/write on the entire drive.

Anyone know why it's doing this?

Thought about putting this in the networking section but they guys over there are far too hardcore for this kind of thing :P! ;)

Not trying to hijack the thread here but I recently started using homegroup for the first time and I was just wondering where do you set all of these settings, because I cannot see any settings to do with read/write/full control of files?

The other day I was accessing a word document (on my PC) that was stored on my laptop, I opened it, edited it, tried to save it back to the laptop and it wouldn't let me, can't remember the exact error but it was something to do with not having the correct permissions so would be great if you could tell me where the settings are

Hope you can help :D

On the machine with the drive to share, go to my computer, right click on drive/folder, share with Advance Sharing, select Advance sharing again then permissions and set to full controll for read/write if multi user

Open Windows explorer. Click a library and on the top menu you'll get the option "Share with". Click this and choose "Homegroup (Read/Write)". Make sure the folder you want to share is in a library, as this is what gets shared.
