¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hi, I've just plugged up the Wii after getting it, and I was wondering how I can access the internet on it?

I've already put in my wifi connection settings, and done the update, but I can only access the weather and news. I want google and youtube!

Do I have to make a new channel?

Cheers, I've done it now. Works well. I find with some sites like youtube the video playback works fine, yet on other video sites like dailymotion, the video does not work. Is this normal? Can it be fixed?

It's normal and can't be fixed as the flash player is 8.1 mobile. The Wii doesn't have enough resources for anything higher. Still it's an improvement on 7 which the browser originally launched with.

Even the PS3's Flash support ain't that decent itself, i.e. the video framerate is too slow, but at least it is watchable, and just as long as you can still get access to the standard stuff like Youtube and BBC iPlayer, which the Wii can easily do, then it is all fine.

To be honest, I think most people aren't going to use a console for serious web usage anyway, you just want something that you can use to check the odd little thing when you can't be bothered to boot a PC.
