Accessing User Files on a slave/secondary drive

(this relates to finding Mass Effect 2 save files)

Hi all,

I know where the save files should be, under the machines user save directory. However that isn't public, and the complication is that my hard drive went kaputt ages ago. The data on the disk is still good, but I no longer boot on that drive.

So the current config is a windows vista (this is my old machine) c:, and my old flunky drive as a slave d:, and I know ME2 was on what is now the d:

So if I type (for instance) c:\users\pcname\appdata\local that gets my access to where the save files would be if this drive had originally been used. However what I'm at a loss to figure out is if there's a similar way to access the same data space on my slave drive?

It obviously doesn't have a pcname associated with it now (although it must have when it was the single boot drive in the previous machine).

Might not have done the best job of describing it, but does anyone know how I can access that space on the slave drive?

Any advice much appreciated.

Its not PC name, it will be a user name.

The files will be on the drive, just navigate to it via file explorer. D:\<user>\appdata\....etc

Files should be there.

What I don't recall is what the <user> part should be for the old drive/pc. As far as I can see there's no way of finding it. I know it isn't the same as the pc it is currently in.

Open up D:\Users in Explorer and see what usernames are there. This folder simply contains the profile of each user account that has used the PC (plus Default User, Public and Administrator) so each folder will have the name of that user account.

And if you still don't recognise the username then simply open up each of the profiles and check out their AppData folder until you find the ME2 save file. Chances are there will only be 1 or 2 profiles to look at (not including the system ones mentioned above)

I apologise, I dramatically overthought and overcomplicated this matter. I didn't have all the hidden files/folders view switched on, and that was all I needed to do to locate everything.

Sorry, but thanks, sometimes it just needs thinking through and discussing :)
