Hi all,

Does anyone know a way to connect a IPAD \ IPHONE to a Windows Domain to be able to access Windows Shares?

We are planning on implementing Apple devices into our company, who have agreed to buy a actual Apple Server if need be. I have done some Googling and it doesn’t look like it will be possible.

Can someone clarify this for me? Or suggest a alternative?

Thanks!

At this point in time I would seriously consider putting the brakes on the project and wait for Windows RT devices.

thanks for the replys!

Windows RT does sound fantastic, and it will no doubt be 100% compataible with our environment.

Our company has jumped on the "IPAD bandwagon" a few months ago and rolled out a bunch of IPADs. The execs basically have documents that are hunderds of pages, and want to be able to open it up directly from the fileserver, rather than emailing it to themselves.

We are also implementing Apple TV to use IPADs for meetings and presentations etc

You could use the NetPortal app, it'll let you connect to a share using a machine name / IP, username, password & domain name.

Works perfectly connecting to my shares at home. Only over the workgroup, but then I don't see why it wouldn't work within a domain.

I think NetPortal has been superseded by FileBrowser, but yeah it's a similar thing and I'd give it a try.

I feel for you having to integrate iPads... square pegs and round holes. You could give Apple Configurator a look as well to help you manage them but the software only runs on Macs.

Also, volume purchasing is not available in the UK yet so that's another headache for you.
