Right, i had a 360 game on pre-order with X for a about 20 days, it was supposed to dispatch on 17th June, but still hasn't, so i was casually looking about the internet. I recently saw it on Y for a few quid less. I pushed cancel on X as it still hadn't been picked according to the website, and i then went and ordered it from Y. The cancellation didn't go through, so i did it again, but it cancelled again. I continued to do it a few times, each time undoing the cancellation.
I gave X a phone asking why i can't cancel it. Apparently it has dispatched, but the online system isn't working properly. In this time, Y has also dispatched the product. Needless to say, i'm a bit annoyed with X for misleading me and causing this mistake I've made. In hindsight, i shouldn't have ordered from Y until i was sure X was cancelled, but in hindsight we are all geniuses.
So i will be returning the product to X for the biggest refund (although i'm sure postage will counter any saving
)
I was wondering what excuse i need for a refund, can i simply say "I don't want it anymore?". It will after all be completely unopened. Is it covered under the distance selling act? Could i argue my case and get them to refund my poostage cost as well, due to their web mistake, or will this be very unlikely without a big fight?
I'm a bit embarrassed about it all really, these are the sort of mistake my parents make on the web
