I got a stream link in the Xmas Sale and was setting it up this evening. Going through it all ok and its all working, Launched Rise of the Tomb Raider and it came up asking to either upload or download something. Stupidly i didn't see what it said as i just wanted to play and as a result, i believe it downloaded the save game from the cloud and overwrote my save. I was about 93% complete and but not the save is about a month older and back to 28%.

Has anyone done something similar and managed to get back their original save?

Maybe you could try recovering a previous version of the local save file? I imagine the cloud save will have just overwritten it.

Quick google search brings this up as the location for the save:

Your Rise of the Tomb Raider save files should be located at:
"Steam\userdata\<Your Steam ID>\391220\remote"

Save files of RotTR will look like this:
- lastauto.dat (Last Auto save)
- lastbackup.dat (Last Backup save)
- lastcamp.dat (Last Camp save)
- save1.dat (Manual save in slot 1)
- save2.dat (Manual save in slot 2)
- save3.dat ...

You also got:
- profile.dat (Account/Profile information)
This one is most likely also very important as it is in most games.

If you want to backup all your save files locally (which is a good practice if you care about it), I suggest you backup the whole "Steam\userdata\<Your Steam ID>\391220\" folder.

391220 is the Steam-ID of Rise of the Tomb Raider by the way.
