Hi all.

So somehow I've managed to hide or delete an entire folder and I would like it back.

I was in my C drive looking for a folder and I thought I could unhide any hidden folders.

I went C drive/users/ and then we had 2 folders, public and (my name). I think I clicked on properties, hidden, and apply. It wiped out the entire my name folder.

I tried system restore and it did bring all the folders back but there seemed to be missing content in the folders.

So in summary, how can I retrieve the folders?

Thanks.

Are you still able to login with the same username? If you are the folder is still there, maybe you've hidden it.

In File Explorer select View, Show, Hidden Items. When you see the folder select Properties and uncheck "Hidden".

You wouldn't be able to delete your %userprofile% while logged in, the files will be locked. If the OP is still able to login with the same account then C:\Users\%Username% folder still exists, it won't be in the Recycle Bin

^^That^^ All you've done is set the hidden attribute on your user folder. Open Windows explorer, go to view, options, view tab, in advanced settings > Files and folders, click the radio button that say show hidden files and folders, click OK/Apply.

Go to C drive/users/ where you should now see your user folder (looking a little more paler than the others), right click it, go to properties, unselect hidden, click OK.

If you like go back into explorer advanced settings and reselect the radio button that say don't show hidden files and folders.
