Hey guys, I know a few of you have the Type R and I was wondering how they are for running costs??

I had a civic a couple of years back which was cheap as chips to run - Obviously the TR is going to be more expensive to run, but I was wondering how you guys found it on petrol (MPG, how much for a full tank etc..) and also on general maintenence costs..

Its just a pipe dream at the moment really, but I'd like to get an idea of costs before I look into it further.

Cheers Guys :)

Engine is a similar H22 to the one in my Prelude, with different head, exhaust etc.

My Prelude does about 33mpg if going really gently, and down to 24mpg if hammering it, but averages about 29-30mpg. I'd imagine the ATR which weighs about the same, with the same engine, will get similar fuel consumption.

Being a Honda it'll likely run forever (my Prelude is on 173k) with scheduled maintenance, cam belt is due every 60k miles/5 years, after a while the auto-tensioner unit can start leaking (mine did at 168k), that's really the only unscheduled maintenance on my engine in it's entire 10 year/173k mile life :) Other than that just routine servicing, can vary on price depending if you go to a main stealer or an independant.

Have a look on Honda Revolutions as well as ATR.org.uk for some more info :)
