I will be doing ACCA through work. I have 14 exams to complete in total and can do them at a maximum rate of 4 per 6 month period. How quick do you think is best to do them? Is 4 every 6 months insane or is it achievable while working full time?

I just want to get an idea of how quickly I can get it done? Also, achieving chartered status requires three years of work in the relevent field. Is this after you pass ACCA or is this time counted if you work in a trainee accounting role while taking the exams?

Including the trainee role. You cannot just say "Oh I've been a training accountant for three years" though I think there are certain requirements.

ACCA exams are pretty difficult. Many people put them on the same level as a masters in Accounting. Graduates achieve 4 exams every 6 months with big four accounting firms so it is achievable but I suppose it depends how much support you have from your employer.

I'll be getting full support, study leave and full financing through everything. I am coming from a Physics background so the technical aspect of the course does not worry me, more the legal and managerial papers. I just wanted to know if my plans are suicidal or not.

You won't be qualified until you've trained for 3 years so is it worth trying to do 4 every 6 months?

Surely it makes more sense to do 2 or 3 every 6 months?

I'm doing ACT at the moment (work sponsored) and it's pretty tough going. I know they're different exams but I really wouldn't recommend taking on 4 every 6 months. I'm doing 1 each April and October for the foundation papers and finding that to be enough. At the moment I'm studying for 2 next week(!) but one's a retake. I definitely wouldn't do more than 2 at a time.

i am currently doing the ACCA and if you think you can handle doing 4 exams on top of work, then go for it, just be prepared to sacrifice your social life completely.

I am planning to do two exams every 6 months but am only studying one at the moment, which is hard enough as it is on top of work. If you're starting off, i think you should be able to handle three but don't push yourself - my work colleague did 2 of the starting modules and he was the worst person to work with for 4 months.

my F6 module book is being used as a door stop at the moment.
