I'm setting up a limited company and I'm currently researching what accounting software to use. I'd really appreciate some help!
Ideally, I'd like to use free software and my current favourite is to build a database using Open Office Base and MySQL. This has the advantage that I can construct the database to fit the company and I'll also feel comfortable that all my data is in a format that I understand (MySQL). However, I'm worried that if my company gets audited then the auditor will want to see a "proper" accounting package instead of a home-brewed database.
I've taken a look at GNU Cash and that looks quite interesting although I'd prefer a package that works across as many platforms as possible (OpenOffice runs on Win, Mac and Linux; GNU Cash only runs on Mac and Linux).
Any suggestions would be great,
Thanks loads,
Jack
