Accusing!

Sadly modern media isn’t optimised for truth, its optimised for engagement. Accusations generate clicks far faster than careful evidence will, so everything spread unchecked. Once a claim is out there, the damage is done, regardless of whether its true or not. Stop watching the news, its probably healthier than you’d think.

There is already such a law in Defamation. But if you say "allegedly" you seem to be able to get around with it.

In the US however....you can say whatever you want without backing it up, their defamation law is much harder to stick due to the 1st Amendment. So many people now just take it for granted, I mean they just "trust me bro" and they do.

Raymond Lin goes round all the pubs in Ipswich telling strangers he's the stig, Allegedly.

I just use Facebook to look up gigs, see what's on gig wise. For hobbies, I find it's ok. If you're in a debate club and have insight, then something like Speaker's Corner on this forum is ideal. Otherwise, if you can't put your ideas across, then stay away from politics.

Reddit is great because even thought it has politics, you can choose sub-reddits that aren't politics.

The news is just grim these days. War and politics plus the occasional amber weather warning.
