Interested in the Acer 19" AL1916WS Widescreen TFT.

Those that have one, are you happy with it and does the picture look crisp, no Ghosting, backlight bleed? What about games? Do they look great with this TFT?

I do like to play PC games so need to know about the ghosting etc.

Any views on this TFT would be ace. Thanks guys.

I went from a 15" TIME screen to this !!!!!!

It's great for DVD's and fast paced games.

CS:S and NFS:MW are played on this with no problems at all :D :D

A great monitor for the price :D :D

So no problems with the res and games? No slow down etc.

Really interested in this TFT. Need to know it is right before i buy. Also looking at the Samsung 730bf 17" TFT. Any help would be great.

Not that iv'e noticed, but i'm no expert.
Do a search for 'AL1916W', think you may find a bit more info.

I personally don't own the screen, but from these forums I have heard nothing but good things about it. Personally I think you would be insane to buy a 17" TFT given the choice between that and a 19" widescreen...

Well, the 17" looks nice and has DVI etc. Fast ms too. Size difference it is slightly taller. Not sure what to do?

Depends really what you want. If you enjoy watching movies and gaming, then IMO widescreen is the way to go. I currently have a 20" Phillips Widescreen, and I cant believe how much difference the viewing angle makes in games like HL2 and the Xbox 360. It also helps cause I do photo editting.

Currently I am pairing this up with a 4:3 19" CRT monitor, which I want to replace with another 20" widescreen.

Remember though, a 17" will be 1280x1024 and the wide will be 1440x900... So you lose a bit of height, and gain some width...More games are becoming wide screen based, but in the end its up to you. The only thing lacking on the Acer wide is DVI if I remember correctly., but I have heard its VGA inputs are very good!

Generally speaking, the acer widescreen monitors are top value, and the vga inputs are impressive. I own 2 of them , marvelous.

I agree nice monitor, have two myself but one developed a fault.
Just hope you don't have to send back for repair like me.
A month before I got it back from repair, still no right though.
Esplex who do Acer repairs are not the best.

Well, will wait for some more reviews on this TFT before i buy. Anyone got the Samsung 730bf 17"?

Don't bother waiting for reviews. I've got one. It's awesome. Buy eeettt! :D

Ive got one had it for about 2 months now.

Positive -
Value , Bright screen Got mine set to only 25 on brightness , No dead pixels and very little backlight bleed. Make sure you set everything to 1440x900 windows looks very nice in widescreen and cleartype fonts enabled DPI at 120%.

If the game doest support 1440x900 then its scales adjusts the screen to fit which it does quite well.

Negatives- Lack of DVI socket , which aint too much of a problem as the difference between VGA and DVI is minimal - But if i do want to use the monitor on something like a Xbox360 then i would have to find some sort of switch box( any reccomendations ) or swap cables everytime.

DVDs can look abit grainy this is because dvds are actually half the res of the monitor , perfectly acceptable if your not a perfectionist ( but i got round this by running a program called FDDshow/media player classic and doubling the resolution and running cleaning filters - DVDs look great now.

The Stand doest do height adjust just a poor tilt funtion ( you can buy 3rd party clamps/stand or wall mount - got mine sitting on two layers of DVD cases and its fine.

Overall for the price - which includes 3 year warranty and performance if your on a budget i would reccomend it - look at the viewsonic 19inch range which is also 8ms response but also has DVI ( costs little bit more) , But im very happy with my Acer Widescreen :) ..
