Hi folks, i need a bit of advice. The backlight on my laptop has developed a habit of switching off within a couple of minutes of switching it on. I've checked the display settings and everything is set where i've always had it. The laptop is coming up to 2 years old and is used most days and always on mains power and i've never had a problem like this before.
I've managed to get it working but the screen is a lot dimmer than it was before. Apart from the screen issue it still works perfectly and it's been dropped of thrown about, it's always stayed on my desk.

If i send it back to Acer would they be able to replace the backlight or is it a simple job to do it myself?

Is an LED backlit one or a normal one, if its the latter it could just be the inverter giving up, with either types of screens it could also be the screen itselft, I would go with an inverter first.

To change the inverter is a bit fiddly as the bottom half of the bezel where its situated is a bit tight to get to without taking the whole screen off from the base but it can be done.

Sounds like the inverter. Although it could be a faulty display also. If its under warranty best thing to do is send it back to acer.
