Has anyone got this monitor? If so can they please advise me if it is any good? I have read a review which had mixed reviews but I would like to hear it from the horses mouth.

Cheers

Im using one now, got it yesterday for £175.

I'm in love with it i think its amazing, its very easy to set up. When windows boots it does an auto config. You can use the buttons on the minitor to adjust manually as well which is what i did.

I've never really used a TFT before so im only just getting used to the changes. Colours look different to me on websites. This forum looks different colour wise as well. But its REALLY wide. I will post some pics on this thread when i find some batteries for my digital camera so you can have a look.

I got mine just last week and loving it :D . As Camalot said, it's really wide. It's a widescreen, so obviously its supposed to be, but when you see it in the flesh it's quite a surprise.
It only has one VGA input, and blacks come up very gray; it's not "true black"; it's very obvious when it's next to a CRT. That's why it gets mixed reviews. But if you just want a nice tft at a good price, and aren't fussed about stuff like that then it's a good choice.

I'll get some pics when i finish playing WoW, it's much better in widescreen. :p

Those what you're after? If you want a different angle/subject matter etc. ask and i'll see what i can do

Oh yes..i forgot to mention how short the stand is. Not very tall, and not a lot of movement in it... but a few science textbooks soon sorted that out.

Its a 15" i have one of these monitors along with a 17" tft and the 17" is taller that the 19" widescreen... i think its best to have a widescreen AND a 4:3 so if your watching 4:3 a 2nd monitor comes in handy...

That's a 17" CRT at 1152x864. So it's of a similar height only not a wide, which makes swapping programs over easy, though having Ultramon helps a lot.

I haven't seen it near any other monitor, but beside a CRT the CRT looks like proper black and the Acer like a more dark blue/gray. That's the compromise you make for a screen like this, I suppose. Having a program across both monitors really shows up the difference in sharpness though... it's quite a change.

Id say 1.2 times the game if my widescreen laptop is anything to go by, a bit more immersive and the interface is tidier. Its not exactly a whole new game.

I run WoW at 1440x900, which is native res for the acer. I'd agree with WILD9 though, it does make it better; you have a whole lot more room for your UI and it feels less cluttered, but it's still the same game. Definately an improvement though; you aren't losing half your screen to bars, character screens and tooltips.

Ive nearly settled on one of these over a second sammy 913n , 2 913s would look very tidy on the desk but the second screen is mostly for media and so widescreen would be cool. Still a bit concerned about the black levels tho, my 913 is absolutely fine so if its anything like that itl be ok but the contrast ratio is quite a bit lower down at 500:1 instead of the 700:1 of the sammy.
