Acer AL2016Ws or Philips 200W6CS

Right, recently got a X1900XT & now im wanting a better monitor so i can get the most out of it - but which one?

I've heard good things about the Phillips but is the higher contrast ratio/DVI worth £40 more? Have no idea bout panels/lightbleed etc, had a Samsung Syncmaster 172v for the last 2yrs, not noticed any problems like bleeding/ghosting personally. Also the phillips one is pushing it a bit price wise after the recent gfx card purchase so if anyone can suggest good monitors for around the same price id be grateful!

Also its used mostly for games, browsing & maybe the odd movie.

Well the Acer 2016WS is based on a TN Film panel whereas the Philips 200W6CS is based on (what is thought to be) an IPS panel. Both fundamentally very different screens. The Belinea 102035W is also a good choice if you're on a budget. Might be worth having a look at the round up here to help: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/20inch_roundup.htm

If you have the money the philips is worth the extra, if you dont the acer is still an excellent screen (check my thread about it).

Mouse is hovering over the buy button on the phillips at the moment. just spent last half hour looking through topics on here about it, iv noticed the NEC is meant to be even better when its out but the price is a bit off putting.

edit: screw it, phillips it is!

that's half life 2, which looks like it must be lost coast as it certainly appears to have HDR on.

If that isn't HDR, bloody hell that's awesome graphics for the original release!
