Just wondering If anyone has this and what they think about it, viewing angles, response time etc.

I am considering either this, the Belinea or the Philips but would like to spend as little as possible.

Was thinking the same, But the problem is I have £380 and am trying my hardest to get a 250gb external HD into the spec as well.

If the philips is a massive improvement over the Acer then I can wait for the HD.

Thanks for your help.

I know i would like a better panel if i am going to spent £300 ish on a monitor, it will be 1 component that last longer than the rest of the PC so i think its worth it.

That may be true for most people ;)

Only had this screen a year :p I suppose you are right though, time to pop down to a shop and have a look in the flesha s they sell the philips (£400 though)

Make the salesman think i'm gonna buy then just walk off and order it elsewhere :D

Edit: If that was Gilly you still have bad taste in music and I still beat you at pool :p

Just ordered 1 and OcUK are delivering Monday. Will put on my thoughts next week. Been using CRT at home, but at work I use a Dell Inspiron 9300 With a 1920x1200 screen. thought that WoW deserved a widescreen...

Nice one, thanks for that :)

I am still completely undecided on which one to buy :p

Got it today and had a few problems. 1 "stuck" pixel right in center!!!! - not good! But after a bit of help from OcUK got it "fixed" and I have just played 4 hours of WoW on it.

First impressions - Bright screen, especially after a CRT.
Excellent for playing WoW (my main prog atm)
F.E.A.R. looks crystal, and I guess the LCD makes the game less blurry than CRT - more like Quake4/Doom3 engine

Just realised I hadn't turned on ClearType :) looks better now

My eyes aren't the best for judging things like this, but I cant see any "shadow blur" on games or windows.

Overall is it worth the £280+ for the monitor? Well it complements my new ATI X1600 AGP Pro perfectly. Neither of them are the best available, but they are both worth the money!

Remember, my experiences may not be the same as yours...

can post some pics if requested... just tell me what u would like to see?

3Dmark06?
WoW?
F.E.A.R. ?
DVD?
Desktop?

ANOther?

Sounds good, how about a pic of a black background in a darkened room to see what lightbleed is like, also try and get some fast moving shots from FEAR/WoW and a couple from films to try and check for ghosting.

Oh and from high/low/extreme left/extreme right angles :)

I'll also be intrested to know how your 7800gt performs with the screens native res if possable, also the veiwing angle vertically, cheers :) .

Just got it as you posted that. : D

Set it up in 2 minutes, had to log out so it regognised the new resolutions available and with a little bit of playing around in the OSD it looks brilliant.

This screen really is massive and has excellent build quality for a screen of it's price, 1680x1050 is SO much better than 1280x1024.

Viewing angles obviously arent that amazing as it is a TN panel, but it is fine for 3-4 people to stand around and watch something. The only angle I would describe as "bad" it when looking up at the screen, which you rarely do. The others all look fine, better than my last monitor (also TN based)

Havent noticed any ghosting but will need some "extensive testing" ; )
And guildwars seems perfect, very sharp image and a constant 60FPS at max settings, 4xAA, 8xAF (with vsync on). But again will have to test other games to see how they run at the native res. I am now off to watch some video and will be back with an update : )

For now here some pics of Guild Wars at diferent angles, the screen doesnt look very bright due to the flash on the camera.

Edit: I have one stuck sub pixel (red) in the top most far right corner and it is barely noticeable... for some reason doesnt appear when black is on the screen

I have done some more testing, Farcry runs fine in widescreen on my 7800GT (1680x1050 res, 2xAA, 4xAF maxed details is very smooth). FEAR won't do widescreen resolutions but it does stretch to fill the screen. Possibly I need to update the game in order to use other resolutions.

CSS again runs fine and looks great, settings will depend on which map you play but I had maxed settings, 1680x1050, 4xAA,16xAF without a hitch, also I have noticed no ghosting and very little lightbleed - for the money this is an excellent monitor, although if you can afford it the philips would be a better choice.

Edit: Just had a go at lost coast...7800GT doesnt handle it too well at the settings I used :D (1680x1050, 4xAA, 8xAF, maxed with HDR on) but it was just playable. Looks great too.
