Acer Aspire 5100 Screen problem

Trying to do a repair on my sisters laptop.Screen has gone completely blank.Laptop works ok on a moniter.Tried the screen on a friends aspire and it is working fine,Any ideas as I am stumped.
Nothing to do with FN/F5 keys.Have a gut feeling that the connector on the MB is the culprit.

Does it have nvidia graphics?

Did you check the inverter board for the screen on your mates laptop?
