Hey everyone,
So my friends Acer has died, well at least it seems that way!
He had ubunto and xp on a dual boot, i was using a boot loader to remove the ubunto partition when just before it finished it shut down. Odd i thought, but turned it back on to expect it still to work but to no avail!
The keyboard didn't work which now joined the broken touch-pad. And to add in an extra joy, the USB ports also died. (Yes all of them!)
So after hot-swapping the drive in and out, i eventually removed Grub by wiping the whole drive. That is now gone, and windows xp disc will boot up, but I can't choose install as the keyboard won't work.
To remedy this, we then bought a pmcia usb port card, hoping that this might enable use to by-pass the problems. But unfortunately not!
It turned out to be a powered by usb pmcia USB port card.
Any ideas to what else i can do? short of getting a new computer!
Does anyone know of a PMCIA usb card that doesn't require to be powered by usb?
