Hi Guys,

Recently aquired a Acer 5560G laptop. It had been reformatted and windows intsalled upto the bit where you the enter user name, set date etc. which I did.

Anyway, since getting into the desktop a couple of times, the laptop keeps hanging on start up, hung on shut down too I recall.

I suspect the new install is corrupt in some way, it also hangs when windows attempts to repair.

I've created an ISO but need to change the boot sequence. I'm told (via google) that either F2 or F2 and ALT will get me into BIOS, it's not; I get into windows boot manager and I'm then prompt to load Windows or F8 for further repair options, which results in the computer hanging.

So Acer owners, how do you get into BIOS on your machines, or reading this ramble can anyone see anything I can try?

Thanks,
Martin

OK, have tried the RAM, different sticks in different slots, one at a time etc, but no joy?

I am assuming the initial installation/recovery partition has been deleted if the drives been formatted, it's usually alt + F10 when you power on, should see windows is loading files etc, if you're really lucky the hidden partition is still there and you could try a factory restore that way?

Short of that I guess the easiest things to try first of all are memtest and seatools DOS based to double check the ram and HDD are fault free... after that I aint too sure :p

well I'm in, after much stress, loading drivers now at a painfully slow rate.

Interestingly, it now says press F2 at start-up screen.

Fingers crossed :D
