Acer aspire 5610 Laptop with Orange tinted screen

Girlfriends laptop has had this issue for about 2 years, the laptop screen has a dark orange tint to it.

I have just hooked it up to an external monitor and the colours are perfect, so I think it is safe to say the gfx card is not faulty but the screen needs replaced.


I am tempted to buy a 2nd hand replacement screen for the laptop on ebay but has anyone experianced this fault with Acer laptops before and found it was indeed the panel that was damaged and not something on the main board?

I fixed my brothers Aspire 5100 last year when the screen died on him, the laptop was booting fine to an external monitor but the screen was dead as a doormouse.

Anyways, ended up replacing the inverter board first instead of the whole screen and it worked!. Which was fairly simple to do and only cost him £20. Been working fine since.

Sounds like a dodgy panel to me.
