Hey guys,
I was hoping someone here would be able to help. I had a smart error come up on my old hard drive so i duly replaced it with a bigger better 500gb Samsung jobbie.

Now the problem starts.......the factory installed acer software for my ATI Radeon HD4570 was obviously not on the new HD so now my laptop is running off the standard Intel chipset.

Acer say i need to buy a new setup disc from them but in the other breath they say the software is available as a download as part of the Catalyst Control Centre suite. This software will not install on my comp saying that my graphics card is not supported?? Then the website says to buy the disc i need to enter my s\n but when i do its not Valid and to ring they're expensive premium phone center to have it sent out.

Please can someone help me with a proper CCC download or disc, and maybe a few pointers in how to make it install.

Kind thanks & regards

Martin.

I take it this is the driver pack you already tried? (This is on Acer's global website)

Code:
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/VGA/VGA_ATI_8.590.0.0_Vistax86Vistax64.zip?acerid=633751855275834622&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%205935G&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27

(you'll have to copy/paste the above link to download the file - long URLs don't always make a hyperlink properly on a forum!)

from http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers (I provided "Notebook", "Aspire" and "5935G" for the options)

Its running windows 7 not vista but it seems the same from the acer website. it downloads but does not allow the Graphics card to run (this device cannot start code 10) The CCC download from ATI either crashes back to windows or tell me its not compatible with my harddrive and to contact my maker for the right drivers. ???? im totally at a loss.

That seems quite strange, I've never seen a driver fail on Win7 yet that works on Vista.

Is the old hard drive knackered entirely? Or could you plug it in using a caddy or something to extract any drivers etc from it? I know some manufacturers have their drivers in a folder on the C drive. That could save you some hassle.

Alternatively, the rip-off contact number for Acer - is there an alternative at http://www.saynoto0870.com which would be cheaper? (Remember to be careful of the non-verified numbers though).
