I have just brought one of these laptops of ebay and it is a nice laptop but the only thing i hate about new laptops is the bundled rubbish that comes with them. This laptop seems to take to long for me to boot into windows so ive been thinking of formating the drive and putting windows 7 on as i use that on my desktop pc and i love it. Well this laptop did not come with a recovery disk it,It has a hidden partition of 15gig and i have to press alt f10. would i still be able recover vista from this partition even after the c partition has been used with windows 7.

Anyone got a acer on here can tell me what i can unistall that won't efeect the laptop like junk sofware to make the laptop boot up fast as my new acer laptop takes about 2 mins to boot up. There is a program callied nti backupnow 5 that runs on bootup and acer bio protection aau.

Hi, that can go, the acer bio protection can also if you don't use the fingerprint hardware. What spec is your 6530 as 2 mins is long even when the Acer stuff is installed. Are you sure that the power settings are correct for running on mains power are all correct. Also you can make the system restore file smaller using this guide http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/reduce-system-restores-disk-usage-in-vista/ turning off auto defrag and defender will help too but obviously your laptop will be more at risk if you do. In my opinion installing another OS is like driving a bulldozer through it, yes it will speed it up, but you've got a pefectly good one already there, it just needs optimsing..
