hey, wondering if you can make this problem any clearer to me.
Im running 32-bit Vista, and occasionally, when i switch on, it loads XP...

Well I know that I don't have XP, but my bf suggests that there may be some componants of that OS loaded on my HDD somehow ( actually im sure he explained it far better, but i think i switched off and glazed over :P ).
So, after that loads a while, Acer Arcade Delux starts.
And once its up, after me whacking EXIT! for about 5 minutes, it goes into hibernate.

This doesnt happen every time, just seems to be pure chance whether vista will load or not. If it does load, everythings hunky dory :D

But the odd thing is, I cant find Acer Arcade Delux actually installed anywhere.
Anyone else experienced this or could help me out a bit? :)

Thank you

The two Operating Systems are on different partitions, as is the Acer Arcade Delux.
If you can get into an OS, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management (Left-hand side). This will show you the list of partitions a selected Hard Drive. I wouldn't recommend deleting them willy-nilly though.

hmmm well thank you, so would it probably be safest for someone who's most likely to delete something important by accident, to grin and bear it, and hope that it loads vista each time?

It should have a bootloader present, which basically asks you which Operating System you want to load. By the sounds of things, it isn't working correctly for you.

hmm I've had it since September 2008 now, and does it on average twice a week possibly.. So yea i agree, something isnt quite right.

I know of a few users of this laptop having similar issues. Damn acer for installing so much rubbish as standard!

I agree with you about the bloatware, I usually format the system as soon as it arrives, and start with a clean slate.
