Acer Aspire one question

Hi guys,

Got one of these to sort out for the father in law. I have put XP Home on it, however it is incredibly slow. I know this isn't a beast of a machine but still.

Anyway, I have formatted it in FAT32 as this was what it was before i put xp back on. Is this why its slow? Should I format it again in NTFS?

Spec is:
Intel atom N270 @ 1.6GHz
1 GB RAM
15 GB SSD Hard Drive

That might be why, but I'm just guessing.

I've just got a Samsung NC10 - same specs but 160GB 5.4k HDD. I find it really fast for what it is! I deliberately avoided SSDs because those small ones supplied with netbooks are very slow.

Have you tried Windows 7? I believe XP/Vista don't suppor the SSD drives particularly well. Linux should also work well on the SSD.

I'm sure there's a hack to make XP run more quickly on the SSD versions of the AAO.
