I installed a 1GB stick of RAM a while ago but it seems to be knackered now!

Trying to get the bottom screws out but 1 of them is stuck and I've stripped most of the head off the screw. What's the best way of getting it out now?

Are there any tools I can grab from B&Q or similar to grab it from the sides or do I have to drill it somehow?

Thanks!

You can drill the head off the screw if you have a spare and are steady handed ;)

Or if possible, make a slot in the top of the head of the screw and use a flat headed screw driver to unscrew that way.

Silly question, but were you using the right type of screwdriver? posidriv is different to phillips, though it looks similar.

I'd guess it's a posidriv and you were using a phillips. If so, using the correct screw driver and care you may be able to remove it, if there's at least some head left on it.

Otherwise, get a cheap screwdriver and epoxy it into the screw head, if its a cheap cross head that kind of fits this'll work well.

I had the same problem as you mate. I spent over £30 on screw extractor sets and other tools and none of them worked. I used a cordless drill with a very small drill bit to remove the screw.

I suggest you use a drill mate and dont buy any other tools

Dont drill untill you need to!

Get a flat blade as big as poss (Max screw size) and gently ease it in with a few knocks on the top of the screwdriver.

Then carefully turn it.

LH Drill to get it out, very slow, on screw type speeds. odd on, it will start to cut, then screw out. tape around the screw might help if it slip's
